2011: CREATIVE PROCESSES AND AUTHENTIC LEADERSHIP
In 2011 Dharma/Arte is introducing its programs on Creative Processes and Authentic Leadership, with the purpose of encouraging a dialogue with experiences of awareness and creativity in the arts within social and organizational arenas. Our approach is based on the innovative work developed at the Authentic Leadership in Action Institute (ALIA Institute), and in recent years we at Dharma/Arte have been in conversations both with professionals from ALIA (like Michael Chender, its founding chair, and Arawana Hayashi, from ALIA and the Presencing Institute) along with Brazilian partners already developing innovative work in these areas.
Our purpose is to regularly develop and promote workshops and programs in Brazil with professionals from ALIA Institute, in interaction with processes already being developed in Brazil by other groups, some of them regular partners of ALIA. The ALIA Institute is a non-profit organization based in Halifax, Canada. Its activities include system-oriented tools and perspectives, as well as authentic leadership values and practices; the combination of which offers a unique and powerful reference.
ALIA Institute’s approach comes from two primary currents: The first is innovation connected to thinking and researching new and emerging paradigms and to the tools that emerge from adaptive systems, complexity theory, chaordic planning, Theory U, social networks theory, community-oriented development and similar disciplines. The second current has ancient roots in the deep and rigorous understanding of mindfulness and of authentic presence, as taught in Shambhala and other contemplative traditions.
The vision of ALIA ― and of Dharma/Arte ― is that these two approaches are the complementary faces of the same coin. Without the frameworks and methodologies of systemic transformation, we remain on the fringes, unable to plan and implement in times of uncertainty. Without holistic and flexible ways of thinking, perceiving, and learning, we have the tendency of repeating the same old patterns, independently of the tools we use.

DHARMA/ARTE MEETINGS
Dharma/Arte organizes regular meetings in São Paulo, Brazil, gathering people interested in dharma, art and transformative experiences ― an opportunity for meeting people from different backgrounds and starting meaningful conversations.
These meetings include meditation, body and creative practice, study and discussion. They’re also an opportunity for exercising appreciation and experimentation ― basically, an opportunity for listening.
If you’re coming to Brazil, please check the calendar of our meetings at http://encontros.dharma.art.br, or email us at encontros@dharma.art.br.
